In particular cases swelling does appear in the area around the forehead and eyelids on the third day after the transplant, but disappears two days later – nowadays swelling is prevented mostly by affixing a special adhesive dressing to the upper forehead for 4 days, in addition to an anti-swelling medication.
In 20% of cases there is the possibility that the transplant will cause a lack of sensation in the transplant area – num ( due to the anaesthetic) for a period of a few weeks and even months – however, the phenomenon invariably passes and does not interfere with the day to day functioning of the patient.
